SB 936 -- COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICTS

SPONSOR:  Vogel (Jones, 117)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill increases the bonding limits for county library
districts from 1% to 5% of the value of property within the
district.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill corrects an inequity in
bonding limits for county library districts by increasing the cap
from 1% to 5%, like other public library districts.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Vogel; Missouri Library
Association; and Margaret Conroy, Missouri River Regional
Library.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
